Privacy Policy

Bet Your Friends: Social Bets ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Bet Your Friends mobile application, the web demo at demo.byfmobileapp.com, and the website at byfmobileapp.com (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Jonathan Stump. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information we collect

• Account information: the username (display name) and email address you provide when you create an account.
• Activity in the app: bets you create and participate in, including outcomes and votes; your groups and group membership; friends and friend requests; and your virtual coin and GLP balances and transactions.
• In-app purchases: records of purchases made through Apple's App Store, such as the product and transaction ID. We never receive your payment details.
• Notifications: if you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device, used only to deliver notifications.
• Device and usage data: standard technical data needed to operate the app, such as request logs.
• Crash and error reports: when the app or our servers hit an error, technical details such as the error, device model and OS version, and app version. These reports don't include your email, and we don't use them to track you.
• Waitlist: if you join our waitlist on the website, your email address and the page you signed up from.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• operate and maintain the app, and manage your account and virtual currency balance;
• enable social features such as groups, friends, and group bets;
• process and verify in-app purchases;
• send account emails (such as password resets) and notifications you've opted into;
• email waitlist members when the app launches; and
• keep the Service secure and improve the app experience.

Virtual currency

Coins and GLP in BYF are virtual. They have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn, sold, or redeemed for money or prizes.

In-app purchases

We process in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. We verify purchase receipts server-side to credit your account. We do not store your payment information. All payment processing is handled by Apple.

Data sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except as necessary to operate the Service or as required by law. We use these service providers, which process data only on our behalf:

• Render: hosting for our servers, database, and website.
• Resend: delivery of account, password-reset, and waitlist emails.
• Apple: in-app purchase processing and push notification delivery.
• Expo: routing push notifications to your device.
• Sentry: crash and error reporting.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account), or by contacting us. When you delete your account we remove your personal information. Anonymized records of past group activity may remain so other members' history stays accurate.

Waitlist emails are kept until the app launches and you've been notified, or until you ask us to remove you. Accounts created in the web demo may be deleted at any time.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for people 17 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email, and update the date at the top of this page.
